Two Losses for Volleyball

On Thursday September 27, the Hutsonville-Palestine Lady Tigers made their way to play the Lady Pirates of Cumberland. The junior varsity game started out extremely slow for the Tigers. The passing just wasn’t there and when the pass and set were good, the hit was off or the other team could pick up the ball and win the point. The first set was a big loss with the score being 3-25.

In the second set, our team came out much ready to play. They picked up their game in the passing and hitting areas. Half-way through the set the Lady Tigers seemed to be in the mode and ready to win. But the energy fell and the Pirates came back in the lead. The J.V. lost this conference game with a good fight, but just couldn’t pull through. The final score was 18-25.

The varsity game was steady for the first set but the Pirates out played the Tigers with their hitting and good defense. The other team figured out that the big hole was in the middle and went there almost every chance they got.

In the second set, the energy for Hutsonville-Palestine raised and everything seemed to be falling into place for a win. The defense started adjusting to what was being hit at them and the blocking started to pick up as well. The Lady Tigers were successful with winning the second set and were ready to take on the next set.

The hopes were high for our ladies and they had the win in their sight. All they had to do was go out there and play their best game. But as the game went on, the Pirates took off with the score. The Lady Tigers lost this conference game as well.

The next game they will play is on September 28 at 9 in Oblong for the L.O.V.C. tournament. The tournament will be going on the 28th through the October 4.
