Charleston Tournament for Volleyball

On Saturday, September 15, the Lady Tigers traveled to Charleston High School to play in their second tournament of the season. This was the first time that Hutsonville-Palestine was invited to this invitational and were hoping to gain some new things from the other teams. The first game they played was against Argenta-Oreana. The game started out very slow and the other team took off with the lead. They lost the game in 2 sets with the scores being  15-25 and 10-25.

The second game was played against Charleston. This team is in the 3-A division, so the Lady Tigers were very intimidated by this team. Lots of their girls were over 6 foot tall and could jump very high. Even though this team was great, the Lady Tigers kept up well with what they were up against. In the end, they couldn’t pull of a win and lost. The scores were  16-25 and 16-25.

The last game pool play game was against Richland County. They thought there was a pretty good chance that the Lady Tigers could win this game, but Richland County’s blocking was perfect and that really won the game for them. The end scores were  17-25 and 14-25

After the three pool play games were over, the team wanted and hour and a half to play their fourth game of the game. They moved over to the middle school gym to play against MacArthur. This team also had a lot of tall girls who could block very well and they also had good digs and passing. In the end, Hutsonville-Palestine lost with the scores being 26-28 and  18-25.

The last game of the day was against Lawrenceville. This was the third time that the Hut-Pal had met the Indians already this season. The Lady Tigers were hopeful that they could finally win against them, but with the heat of the gym draining all the energy out of them they couldn’t pull it off. At the end of the day, the Lady Tigers lost for the last time that day with the scores being  20-25, 25-20, and 9-15

Starting middle Macy Biggs says that the day overall was good. “We got to see competition similar to what we will see later in the season even though it didn’t turn out like we would have liked it to.”

The Lady Tigers play on September 18th and 20th at Marshall and Tri-county.
