On Friday, December 13th, the Eagles will be hosting their annual Christmas Party, starting at 6:30. The party is open to any kids who wish to come, and they can talk to Santa. The kids then get the opportunity to pick a present, which are divided by age groups. Also up for grabs are a bicycle and two tricycles, which will be chosen by drawing. There are refreshments for the parents and anyone who shows up.

Today, I got the opportunity to sit down with Kaitlyn Wilber, the president of the Pay it Forward club at PHS. Recently, they had a district wide change drive, which was divided up by class at each school. Along with each class, the teachers joined forces to raise money in the time period. When it was all said and done, the club had raised $951 for presents for the party. I asked Kaitlyn what she had thought about, and this is what she had to say:

“Pay it Forward collected change from PGS and PHS earlier this month. The teachers, high school, and grade school raised around $1000, which is very impressive. We split up into groups at Walmart and Dollar General to buy gifts by age group with the money we had raised. The best thing to come out of it was raising money for a good cause, and a lot of kids pitched in for the gifts for the Santa meetup, and they pitched in for the community. I am extremely proud of this club, and we hope to do it again next year, as Pay it Forward loves to help the community in every way possible. ”

Tonight, gifts will be distributed and everyone will be full of warm, fuzzy feelings because of all the people who helped with this event. Think about what you can do for your community, and act on it. All it takes is a decision and time.
