Ahlya Abel, second place VOD essay winner for the District competition.

Ahlya Abel, a student here at Palestine High school won the local VOD essay contest. Then, her essay was sent to district, where she won second place. She will go to the Effingham District VOD Banquet to claim her prize. The District VOD banquet in Effingham is Sunday January 15th.
This year’s local VOD banquet is Sunday, January 8th.There were three local winners from Palestine. The three who won are: Ahlya Abel, Devin Lawyer and Morgan Knoblett. One student from Palestine was represented by Arcola. Arcola doesn’t have any participating schools, but wanted to sponsor a student. This year’s winning student who was sponsored by them was Kaden McCormack.
Good job to the participating students, and a huge congratulations to Ahlya Abel for winning second place in the district!
