Girls Basketball Practice 1/22/2019

You would think that during a basketball practice after a game the team would be working on what they did poorly on the night before, but that was not the situation last night.  During practice January 22, the Lady Pioneers started out by having fun and running drills that they actually enjoyed. After they ran plays, Krescene Holscher, a freshman on the team, saw that there was a badminton birdie stuck on the back of the backboard.  The team decided that they were going to get it down somehow. The big question was how.

They tried using different sticks and other things, but nothing was getting it down.  After practice, they realized that some of them were former junior high cheerleaders, and they had enough bases that they could stunt someone up to get it.  No one else on the team knew they were going to stunt to get the birdie.  Katie Draper, another freshman, at first volunteered to go up, but they decided that they needed her as a front spot just in case.  Next, Jerika Coffman, a sophomore on the team, volunteered to go up.  Several team members stunted her up and got the birdie down, but it made them all laugh so much that Jerika almost hit the floor at the end!

Jerika landed safely, the birdie was retrieved, and the girls’ basketball team went back to doing what they do best — playing basketball.
