The Netflix Original, Anne with an E is the reimagining of the classic book and film. It is a coming-of-age story about a young orphan who is seeking love, acceptance and her place in the world.
This three season show explores Anne and the town of Avonlea and a little bit of a love story between two of the main characters. This is more of an eclectic pick but it deserves a spot of this list. This is a shorter but just as action packed as the other shows on this list.
The Netflix Original Show, Stranger Things is about to release it’s fifth and final season. With excitement for this show rising, it is a perfect time to hop onto Netflix and rewatch, or binge the engaging series.
Stranger Things follows a group of five friends, Lucas, Dustin, Mike, Will and Eleven in a fictional town, Hawkins, Indiana. The town becomes plagued by a hostile alternate dimension known as the Upside Down, after a nearby human experimentation facility opens a gateway between Earth and the Upside Down.
The series was inspired by the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, David Lynch, Stephen King, Wes Craven and H. P. Lovecraft and the somewhat dubious Montauk Project. At one time Montauk was even used as its working title.
This four (almost five) season show is filled with suspense, eighties fashion, and comedy. It is the perfect wormhole to fall into.
The AMC show, The Walking Dead, is an eleven season long series following a group of survivors including Rick, Carol, Daryl, Laurie, Shane, Carl, and Glenn, living in a zombie apocalypse. The story takes place near Atlanta, Georgia and the Virginia wilderness. The group looks for a safe place to live and possibly more people to further their group. However this is difficult due to the zombie hoards ruining properties and slowly killing off the population.
This series was inspired and based off the comic books of the same name written by Robert Kirkman.
This eleven season long series is filled with love, anger, zombies, and suspense and definitely worth a watch.
Gilmore Girls, featured on Netflix, is a story of the relationship between a thirtysomething single mother and her teen daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Thirty-two year old single mom, Lorelai, lives with her teenage daughter Rory in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, with crazy neighbors and many ups and downs.
This up and down show is full of love, anger, and sadness between so many characters. This is a must-watch or even a rewatch!
The fascinating fifteen season long series, Criminal Minds, on Hulu, follows a group of profilers in the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) of the FBI as they as they analyze and pick apart the country’s most twisted minds and anticipate the next move of the perpetrators. These profilers, Aaron Hotchner, Spencer Reid, Derek Morgan, Jennifer Jerough, Penelope Garcia, Jason Gideon, David Rossi, Emily Prentiss, and Elle Greenaway, have a difficult job yet find friendship and fun through the group.
Though it is fictional, Criminal Minds episodes draw inspiration from real-life serial killers and true crime, adding chilling realism to the show’s stories.
If you even remotely enjoy crime shows this is a must-watch show. The characters plots alone are enough for me to watch it.
