Cydney Pethtel starting off her senior season.

As we get back into the full swing of school, the realization of real life beginning may be hitting the seniors a little harder than before. Seniors all over PHS were squirming with excitement and nerves as they started their last year in high school. The class of 2024 will all take different paths after high school. As for Cydney Pethtel, she focuses on the present.

Although Cydney has plans for her future, her last firsts are in full swing for PHS senior, Cydney Pethtel. After high school, Cydney plans to go to college for nursing.

Cydney has been an athlete for all of her high school career playing basketball, softball, and golf. On August 16, Cydney competed in her last first golf match. This is Cydney’s third season of playing golf.

In October, Cydney will start practice for her final season of basketball. Cydney has played basketball since fourth grade.

When asked how Cydney feels about this being her last year of sports, Cydney says, “I am upset about it because I will miss the sport and the people I play with.” Out of all the sports she has played, she will miss basketball the most.

Cydney has a bright future ahead of her as she will put high school sports in her past and move on to things that will take her further in life. Maybe someday Cydney can share her love for these sports with her children, even though she says, “I don’t know if I would have the patience to teach someone how to play.”
