CAISA Take Back the Night 5K Fundraiser

Katie Lanham, Editor

Across the country, CAISA (Counseling and Information for Sexual Assault/Abuse) hosts 5K runs that “Take Back the Night” for survivors of abuse. It’s a fundraiser for the organization, which provides counseling and services, (such as advocating for victims of sexual assault in medical and legal settings). The events are usually held in April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This year, one of these events will be held in Olney on April 30th.

As of March 22nd, only six runners had entered the competition. If you’d like to join their ranks, you can sign up at https://runsignup.com/Race/Register/?raceId=126481. The entry fee is $15. Registration ends on April 29th, and the race kicks off at 6pm. It will be start at Musgrove Park – Aquatic Center. The address is 406 E Florence St, in Olney, IL. Donations can also be made at https://runsignup.com/Race/Donate/IL/Olney/TakeBackTheNight5kRunWalk.

This is an opportunity to show solidarity with the people in your life who’ve been affected by this type of violence, and it raises money for the assistance of more victims. If you have interest in participating I encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.
