What an exciting night for the Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville girls’ basketball team! The gang hit the road right after the final school bell to head to Dugger Union High School. OPH played Dugger at the beginning of the year as their season opener. The first face-off ended in a 69-25 victory for OPH.

Our girls started off strong with a 21-13 lead in the first quarter. This may sound good, but Coach Blank wanted more. He told the girls to tighten up the defense going into the second. The team responded well and shut down the Dugger offense. The Bulldogs only scored five points in the second quarter while OPH kept their foot on the accelerator, scoring 9 more points.

Coming out of the locker room at half, the OPH girls kept the pace of the game in their favor. Hutsonville senior Katie Draper led the quarter with eight points, Shara Coffman contributed four, and Halle Piper posted two. By the end of the fourth quarter, OPH held the victory at 49-29!
