VOD Winners

VOD+Winners

Kieran Jenkins

Every year in October students across the country write the VOD essay, which stands for the Voice Of Democracy. The VOD contest was established in 1947 for students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. 9-12 grade students from across the  country to enter to win $2 million in college scholarships.

We do the VOD every year in our English classes, each year with different and unique essay prompts.

There are typically three VOD winners picked each year, and congratulations to all three of them selected to represent our school. We are very proud of all three of them.

The three winners representing PHS are:

  1. Dannika Fulling
  2. Krescene Holscher
  3. Katie Lanham

But last year, Arcola VFW started selecting a first prize winner from our school, because their schools don’t participate, and they chose one from us this year as well. That winner is Shara Coffman!

Congratulations to all four of them, and I hope to hear about the VOD winners next year too
