Interview: Judy White

Sometimes the people who do the most important jobs in our school receive the least amount of attention.  I decided to change that and asked Judy White, the school custodian, to answer a few questions for me.

This Judy’s third year working for the Palestine school district.  She chose our district because she “wanted somewhere close to home and somewhere close to her kids.”

Judy’s job is to keep our school clean and sparkling, and I think we would all agree that she does her job well.  “All it takes is hard work and dedication,” she said.

The onset of COVID in 2020 had a big impact of Judy’s job.  “It take two or three times to get everything clean and to keep it clean or to be clean twice as many times,” she said.  She also said it really helped when the teachers and students wiped down desks after each class.

After working an 8 hour day, in her freetime Judy enjoys tackling various projects at home.  Right now, she says she is making a pallet dresser.
