From March 1-15, Palestine High School Drama Club hosted a Cyber Auction to help raise money to help pay for the new stage curtain. Although the curtain is hung and is already paid for by the district, Drama Club is trying to help offset the cost.

Items for the Cyber Auction were donated by local businesses and put up for auction in posts on Palestine High School Drama Club’s Facebook Page. Bidders bid for items in the comment boxes.

On March 15, the night of Donkey Basketball, all of the items being auctioned off were put on display in the hallway behind the stage for people to bid on in person, if they wanted to.  Drama Club members were on hand to update the website so that all of the bidding was accurate and up to the minute.

The auction ended on the same night at 10pm.  Some people landed deals, like Halley Steffey who paid only $75 for a $100 membership in the PHS Fitness Center.  Others became involved in bidding “wars” and generously bid over the value of items, happy to contribute to Drama Club’s fundraiser.

In the end, the Cyber Auction was a win for everyone.  Forty one items went to happy bidders, and Palestine High School’s Drama Club earned over $1,400.
