Spring is here and so is track!

Practice for the Pal-Hut track team has been in full swing since the middle of February and Junior Kendra Biggs is excited about the upcoming season. Her season as a junior started January 13. On Saturday, March 9 Kendra competed at Eastern Illinois University at the Girl’s Indoor Meet. She threw 33 feet 4 inches, and got 2nd place and was very thrilled to do so well and hopes to continue to have success the rest of the season.

Her track career started in 7th grade throwing shot put and discus. At first, she didn’t like running, but then Coach Beth  Kiger told her “they needed a fill in for a relay because they were short a girl,” but that wasn’t true. It was just a way to get her to run because Coach knew “I had a runner body.” She ended up loving being part of a the relay.

Kendra says her favorite track memory is “going to state, but also just making new friends throughout my track years.” She enjoys track so much because it makes her push herself out of her comfort zone and she is continually getting better and is learning new things.
