Avry Monti and Trace Sisil traveled down to southern Illinois to fish the icasst tournament on Lake of Egypt there were two tournaments on this weekend one was the opening tournament for the icasst league and the other one was just a fundraiser tournament for the salem bass fishing team.
ON the first day which was Saturday the 29th, Avry and Trace were boat 73 going into the tournament and when they took off to go to their first spot. They made it to the spot, and they fished there for around 30 minutes. They could not catch anything. Then they made the move that would end up altering the show of this tournament.
They made it to the spot and almost immediately Trace catches the first fish of the tournament. It was not a keeper, but it was still a fish, and that gave them the confidence to stay at the spot and keep fishing. C couple casts later, Avry caught the first keeper fish of the tournament, then trace catches a keeper right after that, so that’s 2 fish in the boat in 30 seconds. Then they continued to move down the stretch of bank they were fishing and, BOOM! Avry catches a big one at 4lbs 5 ounces, so that was a big confidence booster.
Then they keep fishing and Trace catches another keeper now they are at ⅘ fish they need. Keep in mind, it is only like 9:00 at this time, and then they move spots again. Then Avry catches the 5th fish by a dock. For the rest of the day they were catching fish, just not the right kind of fish all small ones, and then that is when they decided to completely change what they were doing and go into deep water and look for bigger fish. That is when Avry hooked up with another 4lb fish, and by that time the tournament was almost over.
When avry and trace went to go weigh in, they felt pretty good about the 5 fish they had. When they weighed in it originally had them in 4th place and more and more people weighed in and they ended the tournament in 6th place. So at the end of the day, this as a very good tournament to go to. It made the whole weekend better for everyone else, so at this point in time Trace and Avry are the number 6th team ranked in the state.
