I have the week 22 power rankings and there is a new team at the top spot. This team was expected to be good and played good for a while but fell off. Now they are back at the top spot and with the youngest average player age on their team they might be good for years to come. The OKC Thunder are back on top and looking to get rolling into the playoffs.
The league has now played about 192 games since all-star break and there has been improvement in teams with lower rankings. Teams like the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Sacramento kings have started to step up in things like points per 100 possessions. Which can be big for them. This year’s playoffs are looking to be interesting. The team of the week was the OKC Thunder going 3-0 while the worst was the Golden State Warriors going 0-4. In the battle between the east and west the west is still holding on to their lead with a record of 186-178. The highest jump in the rankings was the Lakers going up 4 spots, but at the same time the Memphis Grizzlies dropped down 4 spots. The team to watch going ahead is the Lakers. The Lakers are hot on a 8-1 stretch and getting to the third place spot in the west.
That is the Power rankings done and the league seems to be changing in this aspect. Some teams are stepping it up while others are feeling the pressure of trying to make it to the playoffs. For more information go look at NBA.com.
