In the NBA there seems to be one rookie’s name that pops up everywhere. That name would be Cooper Flagg. He was the number one pick last year and it seems he is living up to the hype so far. His NBA debut jersey that he wore on the court privately sold for 1 million dollars last month.
Cooper is looking to be rookie of the year and an all star for years to come. For his rookie campaign so far he is averaging 20.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. “The $1 million result for Cooper Flagg’s rookie debut jersey is a power testament to the significance collectors place on true ‘first moments’ in sport,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Modern Collectibles, said in a statement. “This jersey captures the very beginning of a special career, one carrying huge expectations and excitement.”. His summer league debut jersey sold for 95,250 dollars in August earlier this year. So the high price wasn’t too much of a surprise. There are still top rookie debut jerseys on the market still, that will probably sell for close to the same price. Some of those players are VJ Edgecombe, Kon Knueppel, Dylan Harper, Derik Queen, and more.
We haven’t seen a rookie line up like some of these rookies. This will probably be a once and a lifetime auction for debut jerseys. They are being auctioned off from Sotheby’s Modern Collectibles. We will probably never see anything like this again so if you have a chance check it out.
