Coming in for the first full week of the 2026 NBA season some power rankings have changed. Some big and some small but the power rankings mean something to some of these teams. It can give insight to teams of what team is looking to be winning more and getting better and what teams are starting to fall off after new years.
For the teams of the week Boston is at the top going 3-0 and moving up one in the rankings. While Sacramento went 0-4 and stayed at the number 29 spot just above the Pacers. This doesn’t mean Sacramento isn’t a team to look out for, they still have a lot of life left and will want a win badly. In the battle versus the east and the west, the west is still up 82-72 but the east went 16-12 against them last week. Some of the toughest schedules through the week were Sacramento, Utah, and New Orleans. These teams are closer to the bottom of the power rankings but obviously went against some of the toughest teams in the league. While Denver, Oklahoma City, and Detroit had some of the easiest schedules. There is a good amount of movement in the rankings as well with Portland, Milwaukee, and the LA Clippers all moving up at least 3 spots. These are the teams that you might need to look out for going ahead. While Denver and Brooklyn move over 5 spots down. These teams are still good and you can’t count them out. With San Antonio at the top and Oklahoma City trailing them you never know what can happen at those top spots.
That was the basic overview of what teams are doing better and worse lately but the rankings are always on NBA.com. With some big movement in the rankings I can’t wait to see how they change in weeks to come.
