The NBA Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkins dies at 88. He was a three time inductee into the hall of fame who was ensured as a player and coach. He died on Sunday November 9, 2025, with friends and family by his side. Wilkins was one of the finest point guards in the 60’s, then brought his style to the sidelines as a coach.
Wilkins coached 2,487 games in the NBA, which is an all time record. He became a Hall of Famer as a player first, then as a coach, then later for being an assistant coach for the 1992 Olympic Dream Team. He also coached to gold at the Atlanta games in 1996. “Lenny Wilkins represented the very best of the NBA – as a Hall of Fame player, Hall of Fame coach, and one of the game’s most respected ambassadors. So much so that, four years ago, Lenny received the unique distinction of being named one of the league’s 75 greatest players and 15 greatest coaches of all time.” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Wilkins was a nine time all star, the first coach to ever win 1,000 games, and the second person to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a player and coach.
Lenny Wilkins was and will be one of the most beloved coaches and players in the NBA. The way he coached and played changed the NBA. His legacy will live on and will not be forgotten.
