PHS Winterball… Postponed..?

PHS+Winterball...+Postponed..%3F

The PHS winter ball was supposed to happen today, February 16th, from 7pm to 9pm at the PHS gym. This morning, there was a message posted on the Palestine CUSD #3 Facebook page announcing that the winter ball had been postponed. But why?

It looks like, once again, snow is in our forecast. We are expected to have 1-3 inches of snow during the afternoon today. The post stated as follows:

“ATTENTION PHS students and OPH winter athletes:

Due to the weather forecast, we have decided to postpone the PHS Winter Dance. While we hope roads stay clear, we do not want to put our young drivers on the road in case we do get the 3 inches of snow as projected. The dance will be moved to Friday, February 23rd from 7:00-9:00. The dance is open to PHS students, their approved guests with proper forms filled out, and OPH winter athletes. Athletes from the other schools cannot bring guests since we cannot approve their guests. Thank you.”

This may seem annoying to some students, since said snow might not even stick to the ground, but the administration is taking all necessary precautions to keep  students safe.

The groundhog said we could expect an early spring and recent temperatures have sure made that prediction seem true.  Even next week, it is supposed to reach the high 60s — in February!   But, spring is definitely not quite here, and it looks like we might have to endure a few more wintery days.  Unfortunately, the timing of those days has made scheduling tricky, causing our Winter Ball to be rescheduled for a later — and hopefully warmer — date.
