On November 7, Drama Club went to Eastern Illinois University’s Drama Days to see the student production of the musical 9 to 5. The highlight of the show for the PHS Drama Club was seeing one of their own, former PHS and Drama Club student Resa Fuller, sing and dance onstage.

Resa played two parts in the musical, having been given a larger part just a week before the performance to replace a cast member who was ill.

In the musical, three female co-workers, pushed to the boiling point, construct a plan to get even with their sexist boss. Violet, Judy, and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While their boss remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down.

PHS was only one of five or six high school Drama Clubs in attendance at the event and after the performance, students were given an opportunity to participate in a Question and Answer session with the guest director and the actors and actresses.

After a guided tour of the Doudna Fine Arts Center and lunch at the EIU food court, students returned to the halls of PHS in time for the final bell.
