Must Watch Christmas Movies

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

This Christmas comedy is one of the best movies I have ever watched. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, is a 1989 film, but it doesn’t seem that old. This movie is about a family, starring Clark and Ellen Griswold. They have two children named Russell and Audrey. Making this film so funny is the way the family acts and talks. Cousin Eddie and his family come and make it even funnier. On Christmas Eve, Uncle Lewis and Aunt Bethany come to visit. Some funny parts in this movie is when Clark spent all day putting lights on the house and they ended up not working. Another funny part is when Cousin Eddie comes, every part he is in, is funny. This movie is a must watch for Christmas time.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I assume most have watched, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It is very popular, especially as a family movie. This is a 2000 film, starring Jim Carrey. The Grinch has a very small heart and hates Christmas. Everyone around him loves Christmas and he can’t escape it. This makes the Grinch very angry. Cindy-Lou-Who tries to get the Grinch to come to these events in town and make him have some Christmas spirit. You see how the Grinch hates Christmas, but eventually he finds love in his heart.  They came out with an animated version of the Grinch in 2018. This is a kid favorite and the Grinch isn’t as scary looking as the 2000 film. A star in this is Benedict Cumberbatch. The Grinch is small and more happy in this film. I recommend watching both movies, as they are really good!

Home Alone
Home Alone

Home Alone, a classic Christmas movie for the whole family, directed by Chris Columbus is about a little boy getting forgotten by his family. Although there are multiple Home Alone movies; the first one is by far the best one. This movie is starring Macaulay Culkin, playing Kevin an 8-year-old boy. Kevin is very bratty and the night before his family was supposed to be leaving for a family vacation to Paris he acts up and his mom makes him sleep in the attic. When he wakes up he realizes no one is home and he is all alone. The night before he wished that he had no family and he thought his wish had came true. He is living the dream until he realizes that two con men plan to rob him and he must protect and outsmart them all on his own. This movie is a must watch during the holiday season.

A Charlie Brown Christmas
A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas, a must-watch Christmas classic. It came out in 1965 and it was the first tv special based on the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. In this special, Charlie Brown finds himself depressed despite the upcoming cheerful holiday season. Their friend group decides to direct the annual Christmas play to get him involved and get him into the holiday spirit. Charlie is still not in the Christmas spirit, nothing is going right. The play is a disaster. They sent Charlie to get a Christmas tree for the play and to match his mood he got the saddest little tree he could find. By the end Charlie Brown finds it in him to get into the Christmas spirit. This movie is a classic and I recommend watching A Charlie Brown Christmas this holiday season.
