Many students of Palestine High School have their own special talents and quirks that make them Pioneers and makes them an individual. Some enjoy art, athletic activities, or even dance like Lotus Webster. You may not see her in the halls because she is home schooled, but whether you know her or you don’t, she loves dance with a passion! She has grown up in Illinois with parents Nick Webster and Jodi Webster. She is a character if you get to know her; she is bright and funny, and she loves art as well and doing her makeup.  Her favorite food is spaghetti, her favorite show is Mean Girls, and her favorite color is pink. Lotus attends Fusion Dance Studio in Marshall, Illinois.

Over last weekend the Webster family traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Star Quest dance competition. There were many performances before Lotus, all of which were very impressive. The atmosphere of the whole theater was high pressure and everyone was bustling to get their kids and teenagers in their uniforms and in their dance makeup . There were many dancers stretching and practicing their dances, and it was interesting to be in the presence of so much talent.

When asked how she felt about performing in front of so many people, Lotus said, “I was nervous at first, but I didn’t feel nervous when it came time to do it. I was just more excited to dance than anything.”

When it was her turn, she absolutely delivered a slaying performance, earning a high gold metal and an award for the best throwback hip-hop song for that whole weekend.  Lotus had worked super hard, and all of it paid off!
