Club Spotlight: Pay-It-Forward

Alysa Kennedy, Editor

This club is very involved within the community and school. Their acts of kindness and volunteer work go a long way! Have you guessed the club yet? If you guessed Pay- It- Forward, you got it!

Pay-It-Forward is yet another club that is offered to PHS students. Pay-It-Forward is all about what we can do to help someone out and how we can brighten up someone’s day! What’s not to like??

The Pay-It-Forward club is sponsored by PHS English teacher Mrs. Hyde. At the beginning of the year, a meeting is held, and whoever is interested is welcome to join! At this meeting, a president is nominated by the group. When meetings are held, the president and members of the club collectively try to come up with at least one thing they can do for the community and for the school each month. This can be something as small as writing an uplifting note to stick on students lockers, or as large as helping repaint fire escapes so that they are up to code. Every so often members or groups within the community reach out to the club themselves asking for some help with various volunteer projects. (If you are a member of the community reading this, let us know how we can help you out! We’re always open for ideas!)

Pay-It-Forward is really a fun and easy club to be a part of. Meetings are limited and you really only give up a small amount of your time volunteering, as it is typically a monthly thing. If your schedule is busy, no worries! We appreciate the help whenever we can get it, even if it’s not every event.

Here are just a few of many things that Pay-It-Forward has done in the past:
