Love is NOT in the air in this month of February. People never look forward to it, and always dread the idea of it. It is straight up cliché.

On the lonelier side., Valentine’s Day is a joke. It’s just a reason for lonely people to feel even worse about not having a lover. Yes, these lonely people have friends and families that they can consider Valentines, but it just is not the same. So why do we even have Valentine’s Day? Is there really a reason for the holiday? Is it really necessary? There are so many unanswered questions, so why have it? It is proclaimed that Valentine’s Day is a day where you can shower your lover with the neatest of gifts like jewelry, chocolates, cards, and all these cliche things. But why can’t you just love your lover every day of the year?

Another controversial conversation is should your lover have to ask you to be their Valentine? That’s a joke right? We would hope that your lover expects you to be their Valentine every day of the year, all year long up until the next Valentine’s Day. Isn’t it just so cliche for the person you have been with for days, months, or even years to come up to you and ask to be their Valentine? This causes so much heartache for some girls and guys. If their significant other didn’t ask to be their Valentine, they are upset, but the significant other that’s supposed to be the one to ask is always confused on if they should ask or not because they always assume the opposing person will always be their Valentine and they think they shouldn’t have to ask. It is just a vicious cycle that can’t be broken, so why would anyone want to ever ask if their significant other gets mad if they ask, but still gets mad if they don’t? It’s confusing right? And what about the gifts? Why all of these expensive gifts? You shouldn’t have to have Valentine’s Day as an excuse to buy chocolate or jewelry. Shouldn’t you just buy when you see it? Then you don’t have to worry about getting that big gift for Valentine’s Day.

In conclusion, Valentine’s Day is a joke. No one loves it, and it’s just an excuse for your lover to love you more than they normally do (which they should do every day). The lonely people are more lonely, just for the lovers to be more lovey. It will just never be fair.
