Big Changes for Drama Club!!

A dramatic change has been made to the Palestine High School Drama Club spring play. With everyone so excited to do Grease, we waited anxiously for the prices to come through. Sadly, we didn’t have the money to stick with Grease. (Did you know it costs over $1000 just to purchase the license to do a Broadway play?!)

After doing more searching for the perfect play within our budget, we found the one! The Drama Club has decided to go with…drum roll please…. Alice in Wonderland!!

It was a hectic few weeks with decisions and different plays coming to mind, but our final decision feels like the perfect one. Now a little more in depth information about Alice in Wonderland. The play we are doing is going more off the first book written by Lewis Carroll rather than the Disney movie version. This means some characters from the movie won’t be in the play because in the first book they aren’t introduced yet. Lewis wrote many books but is most known for the Alice in Wonderland series. When deciding what play to do, we knew a few things for sure in what we were looking for. A big one was the budget we had, and another big factor was that we wanted a play everyone knows about. We wanted to do something that could reach the whole audience, as well. Alice in Wonderland was the perfect fit.

This past Tuesday, we had auditions for a few roles. These roles were the bigger ones in the play, parts that need the extra time and dedication to knock it out of the park come opening night. The cast list is below.

Rehearsals will start next week on Tuesday, the 31st at 7:00 p.m. So get ready, Drama Club! Before you know it, you’ll be on stage performing in front of an audience!
