Most people when they think of sprimg and fall, they think of clocks moving forwards or backwards. But, if you’re part of the Marathon turnaround team, that means it’s time to shut down.

According to Mr. Wilber, (Chance’s dad), Marathon Petroleum shuts down the refinery, and they also clean it up. They  bring in roughly 5 to 1,500 people to do these projects twice a year around spring and fall. But, it’s a different unit every time.

What do they do? They take a specific union refinery, shut it  down, and replace it with piping, exchanges, or towers. They work twelve hour shifts until the job is complete. The employees work from 40 to 60 days.

Does that sound exciting to you? If so, you could make anywhere from $40 to $100 an hour, depending on your skill level. However, you must be at least 18 years of age. You might also consider pursuing  in engineering education.
