OPH Show Casey-Westfield Who Is Boss
December 8, 2021
The OPH Girls’ Basketball team traveled to Casey last night for their seventh game on the road. The team was down several girls with injuries and illness. While there was only one game, both Junior Varsity and Varsity players dressed for the varsity competition. Head Coach Cutright hung up her whistle for a spell as the team welcomed back the 16-year head coach Travis Blank. Way to step up to the plate, Ms. Cutright!
The girls had a rough start as the first quarter ended 17-14, Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville. OPH kicked it into gear for the second quarter, however as Casey-Westfield only scored four points in the second quarter. Overall, the girls played well. It did not seem like their hardest, but they played well. OPH came out on top with a 52-40 victory.
Coach Blank said, “I was happy the girls got a win. We struggled at times but played a good 4th quarter to keep the lead. I hope we get everyone back soon and get ready for the Christmas and LOVC tournament. Always nice to win at Casey!!”
