This week begins both the girls and boys Thanksgiving basketball tournaments. The girls season has already started, but this will be the first time the boys have played this year. The girls tournament is in Robinson and includes the schools of Robinson, Fairfield, OPH, Mt. Carmel, Richland County, Marshall, and St. Anthony. OPH girls play Tuesday at 8 versus Robinson, Friday at 5 versus Fairfield, Saturday at 9 am versus Mt. Carmel, and again on Saturday for the trophy game. Who they play and what time Saturday will be determined by how well they play throughout the previous games.

The boys tournament is in Cumberland and includes the schools of Casey Westfield, OPH, Okaw Valley, North Clay, Cumberland, Vandalia, Newton, and Dieterich. OPH boys play Monday at 6 versus Casey; the game times and opponents are still to be announced for the rest of the games on Friday and Saturday. If we lose Friday however, we’re eliminated and don’t play on Saturday.

The results of the boys game against Casey weren’t exactly ideal. The final score was 65-20. The team didn’t play with the energy, effort, or efficiency you need to win a game. This is only the first game though and we will definitely bounce back.

The girls game on Tuesday also didn’t go as planned either. They had a strong 1st and 2nd quarter, but after halftime things went downhill. The final score was 69-38.
