Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Movie Review
January 14, 2020
In Quinten Tarantino’s 9th major film release, the plot follows the characters of Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) in the struggle to find work in an era that has passed them by. With years of western t.v. shows under his belt, Dalton is faced with failure or the dreaded Italian spaghetti-western movies, and he isn’t sure which is worse. By his side is his ever faithful stunt double, Cliff, has essentially become a glorified house wife in Rick’s life, doing trivial tasks for him. One of the three subplots of the movie involves Cliff finding the Manson family at Spahn Ranch, and that tying with the real life events that occurred on August 9th, 1969. With that epic transition, the third and final subplot is centered around the final days of Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), whose life was claimed with others on that fateful day in the Hollywood Hills. Among the star studded cast are Kurt Russel (voice over), and, of course, Quinten Tarantino. As always, he manages to give an alternate turn on historical events with this film, which is commonly called the “Tarantino’s Time Corrector.” This movie is filled with action, humor, close calls, and a very real situation of a man who fears being forgotten. Being one of the most acclaimed movies of 2019, this movie definitely should earn its spot in your must watch list. It is available for rent on Amazon Prime and iTunes, and available on blu-ray in most stores that carry them.
