Physical science trip and events
October 29, 2019
On November 21 2019, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, all of the physical science students will be going to Marshall for a physical science competition.
There are four events in total that are all either individual projects or can be done in a group chosen by the students. The physical science class will build these projects throughout the weeks leading up to the competition. The events are: the Mousetrap Deceleration Car Contest, the Gravity-Powered Car Contest, the Toothpick Bridge Efficiency Contest, and the Catapult Competition.
In the Mousetrap Deceleration Car Contest, a mousetrap powered car must go 6.0 m from a starting line and stop closest to a circle of radius 10-cm. centered 6.0 m from the starting line.
In the Gravity Powered Car Contest, the lead weight car will go 6.0 m and have to stop in the circle.
In the Toothpick Bridge Efficiency Contest, students will test how much the bridge they built can withhold before breaking.
In the Catapult Competition, students will aim for a series of targets with tennis balls flung from their catapult. The highest point total of ten shots in the shortest amount of time will be the winner.
