Community Profile: Peg Waggoner

August Biernbaum, Author

Director for the Palestine Chamber of Commerce. Treasure of the Tipsy Pig Committee. Chairman for Palestine Main Street Labor Day Committee. If you have heard any of these titles, you’ve probably have also heard the name associated with them: Peg Waggoner. Peg is the owner of the establishment Peg and Red’s on Main Street, and it has been open to the community since March of 2009. The idea for Peg and Red’s came from Peg’s desire for a career change after being in the medical field for over 20 years. When asked what her favorite part of the job would be, she said it is the ability to connect with our community through her business, especially the student bodies of PGS and PHS. Just for fun, I asked her what she would do if she didn’t have the shop, to which she responded that she would partially retire, but do something on Main Street to keep up with everyone. Peg has been serving the community for over 10 years, and strives to provide great service and a huge presence of the town of Palestine.
