Dog Spotlight: Sadie Mae Biggs
April 2, 2019
Sadie Mae Biggs is a Great Pyrenees who is the loving dog of Corie, Sherry, Jace, and Macy Biggs. She has feline two sisters, Herculina and Hermione, and a cat brother, Jax. Sadie was born between the towns of Graysville and Farmersburg, Indiana, on March 25, 2013. She lives in Palestine, Illinois, with her family in the countryside, surrounded by corn and bean fields. Sadie Mae’s nickname include Toodie Moo, Tadie Mae, Tudes, Toodley Moodley, and Sade. She is a huge, white, and fluffy dog, and Brendyn Piper says, “Wow, that’s a white dog!”
Her hobbies include protecting her family, chasing birds, and running around the yard with her brother and sisters. One of her favorite things to do is greet the her family when they return home! Sadie especially loves cold and cool weather because her fur is so thick, and she loves playing in the snow, and even in the rain. She is a wonderful dog, and her owner Corie says, “She is very loyal and protective and loves her siblings, the cats.” Sadie Mae is a great creature and adds great fun to the Biggs’ family!
Sadie’s life is truly a miracle, because at one year old, she was shaved to keep cool for the summer. In the weeks following her new haircut, her family noticed that she was itching herself to the point where she was bleeding, which damaged her bare skin. They also saw that her skin was pink, even where she had not scratched herself. Sadie took a trip to the vet and went through extensive allergy testing to figure out what was causing her skin problems. The tests came back, and the vet told Sadie and her family that she was allergic to grass. Being shaved exposed her skin to all the things she was allergic to. She had to take strong steroids and allergy pills to help heal her skin, as well as wearing a sweater. After many months of vet visits and treatments, Sadie’s hair started to grow, which allowed her to heal and become healthier!
Despite her struggles, Sadie is a happy and healthy six year old Great Pyrenees who is friendly and playful. She is currently working as a bodyguard for her parents and siblings, and she plans to continue watching after the house and keeping the family safe from birds, cars, and coyotes. This Great Pyrenees hopes to remain an outside pup and carry on her role at the Biggs’ household, while having fun playing with her siblings and chasing birds in her yard. Sadie Biggs is looking forward to spending the rest of her life with the Biggs’ family.
