Kelsey Lanham, a senior at PHS, has played softball since she was 6 years of age.  She began playing after her two older sisters got her into playing and she has enjoyed it ever since.  She has enjoyed the welcoming attitude of the teams she has played on and she enjoys the atmosphere the teams gives off.  In the years that she’s played, her favorite moment was, “ When I was in Junior league for summer softball and my team went undefeated.  We won the tournament, and the division, so we got two trophies. “

Over the years, Kelsey has played on both recreational and school softball teams.  Currently, she is wearing the #15 jersey as she begins her first year on the Palestine-Hutsonville Lady Tigers team.  As one of ten seniors on the twenty-five member team, Kelsey could be called a team player as she plays in whatever position the coach puts her in to the very best of her abilities. In fact, she doesn’t even have a favorite position because she says, “I just like playing softball!”

After having practiced daily since February 25, the Lady Tigers got off to a rough start with a  1-20 loss to St. Anthony’s on March 16.  Their practice paid off at their next game on March 21, though, as the Lady Tigers defeated Marshall 4-3.

This will probably be Kelsey’s last year to play softball on a school team and she is enjoying every moment, looking forward to a busy schedule of games between now and the end of the season.
