Beef and Boards: Grease

On Saturday, March 23, 2019, Palestine High School Drama Club will be headed to Indianapolis, Indiana, to Beef and Boards, a dinner theater, to go see the musical Grease.  Grease is the musical that won out over several others Drama Club members had to choose from.  Members also chose to take a school bus to the theater instead of a charter bus so that Drama Club could pay each student’s entire way.  Tickets are $59 apiece and this year, students are looking forward to having front row seats.

Although the menu for Grease has not been released, last year students had hand-carved slow-roasted beef, hand-carved glazed ham, baked chicken, Boston baked cod, penne pasta, spring blend vegetables, red cabbage, twice baked potatoes, and fruit & salad bar. For dessert, students had moscato berry tira mi su, white chocolate hazelnut entremet, chocolate truffle torte, lemon meringue pie, and flourless chocolate cake.

If you have lived in under a rock and have never watched the movie, here is a little info. In 1959, at Rydell High, “greaser” Danny and new girl Sandy try to relive the romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through songs like “Greased Lightnin” and “We Go Together” in this rollicking musical.

All of Drama Club is praying that we don’t get snow this year since last year on our way to to go see Mamma Mia the snow started to come down and had to turn the bus around. The students still had fun, taking a trip to the Honey Creek Mall, but were still upset that they weren’t able to see the play they chose. Just a few weeks later, we were able to go see Singing in the rain as a replacement, and we got a free dessert!
