Have you ever been painting and enjoying the moment, but then realize that you are missing a color you need? Or maybe it’s not the color you are missing, but it’s a different shade of the color you have? There are multiple solutions to getting the right color, such as going out and getting the exact one you need, or going hunting online for the right one. Although, there is a much easier way to get the color that you are needing, by mixing colors.
To mix colors, all you have to do is combine whichever different colors and swish them together till fully mixed (or not) in order to make a new. Or perhaps it’s not a different color that you are needing this time, but it is a darker or brighter shade. Making different shades is just as easy as making a new color, but slowly add white or black into the color, (depending on the shade needed) till it matches up the shade you desire.
Mixing all these things together gives us a wide variety of colors. From a scientific perspective of this topic, we have well over 10 million colors total. Additionally, a fun fact about seeing colors, our ability to see colors is actually limited by the three types of color-sensitive cone cells in our eyes. Thanks to mixing colors, we now have paints, inks, dyes, pigments, etc.
