The LMM Duramax is known for its power dependability and its smooth performance. Produced from 2007 to 2010, the LMM was featured in Chevrolet Silverado HD and Gmc Sierra HD trucks. Under the hood, the LMM is a 6.6 liter V8 turbo-diesel putting out around 365 horsepower and 660 lb-ft torque. This LMM is paired with the Allison 1000 Transmission, creating one of the most durable power train combinations on the heavy duty truck market. The LMM retained many of the LBZ´s strengths, including its strong block, forged internals, and high pressure common rail fuel system. While adding a diesel particulate filter to meet emission regulations. LMM owners praise it for its smooth power delivery, towing capability and long term reliability. While emission components like the DPF can occasionally cause issues proper maintenance and quality fuel keep these engines running strong for hundreds of thousands of miles. Fun facts, the LMM Duramax was the first duramax engine to come equipped with a factory exhaust brake feature when paired with the Allison transmission. This system used the turbochargers vanes to create a backpressure helping slow the truck down when towing heavy loads. IT was a small but game changing feature that made the LMM especially popular with people hauling trailers or campers.
