The LML is one of the most respected diesel engines ever produced by General Motors. The LML motors were produced from 2011 to 2016 for the Chevy Silverado and the GMA Sierra HD. The LML is a 6.6 liter, V8 turbo-diesel delivering power, technology, and durability. Producing 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, it became the strongest Duramax of its time.
The LML featured major upgrades from the previous Duramax generations, including a high pressure common rail fuel system, and different turbo, new emissions technology. These changes allowed it to meet modern emissions standards while maintaining the towing power and torque that a diesel truck is expected to have.
However, the LML is a very strong reliable engine, it still has its weak points. The bosh injection pump is notorious for failing and causing costly repairs, leading many owners to replace it with the more reliable CP3 injection pump. Even with these problems, the LML still remains a favorite diesel truck to truck enthusiasts. The LMLs can also be good trucks to build for power, or race trucks. There is a lot of aftermarket parts to put on these and its tuning potential is what brings out the power in these.
