The 6.2-liter LT-1 V-8 was, and remains, the direct injected engine under the hood. It is a balanced engine making 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque and features sophisticated technology including Active Fuel Management and constant variable valve control. The car also features an active exhaust system that actuates baffles for increased flow and more racecar sounds. In the center of the chassis sits a bespoke Tremec TR 6070 transmission with seven, manually shifted forward gears and a rev matching feature that blips the throttle upon down shifts. A paddle-shifted automatic transmission is also an option.
Different driving modes are selectable for different weather conditions and performance levels each of which change suspension feel via GM’s Magnetic Ride Control, transmission shifting aggressiveness and differential engagement via the electronic limited slip differential, and engine performance. The driver’s seat, from where these different modes can be selected, is like the cockpit of an airplane. The center console faces toward the driver and the door perfectly molds to interior styling over the instrument cluster conveying a driving-centered experience. A combination of carbon fiber, aluminum, and hand wrapped leather adorn the interior making for the highest build quality of any Corvette before it.
