This is my review of the film “Seven” by David Fincher. Last review I didn’t use my rubric whatsoever; So this time I ditched it. Going forward, I will be going based on my general enjoyment of the films that I watch; however, this may change due to my high level of indecisiveness.
Pre-movie cover image review
I see Brad Pit and Morgan Freeman staring at me intently with the names of the seven deadly sins in a vertical position crossed out with red. The only thing I can really assume is that they have to kill embodyments of the seven deadly sins.
Movie Review
The film followed two main characters, Detective Lt. William Somerset played by Morgan Freeman, and David Mills played by Brad Pit. They’re both detectives; Somerset, an old man who’s been on the force for a long time, on his last week heading toward retirement, and Mills the new Lutenit replacing Somerset. This last week had brought Somerset’s last case as well. Both Somerset and Mills are put on this case as a team; when they get there what they find is grotesque to say the least. This string of murders continues, each one more sickening than the last until the final two. The last two cement the end of the case and the end of the film in one big shockingly sad twist.
I had no words to speak after the end of the film; I sat in silence for five minutes pondering. Each and every new lead in the film made me want to keep watching, no matter how sick, no matter how gory, I wanted to see the next scene. It was both engaging and thrilling to watch, and I would highly recommend it to anyone as long as they have a strong stomach. I rate this film a 9/10
