Homecoming week for Palestine Grade School and Palestine High School is a week when students can dress up, according to the theme given, and participate in JAG day as a whole school for the high schoolers. The people who are involved in this event consist of the Students and Staff of PGS and PHS. The main people involved are the football players who play the homecoming game and will hopefully win big! Cheerleaders of the school also play a big role in cheering on the players, students, or anyone who attends the game to cheer on the players as they play.
This event consists of a lot of activities, such as Homecoming dress up week, which also has an annual game every day. Wednesday, September 17 is going to be the day of the Parade, Chilli Supper, multiple Flag Football games, Powder puff for Homecoming, Pep Rally Games, and then we end the night with a bonfire at the PGS football field. Friday September 19, is the homecoming coronation at the halftime of the football game. That is when the king and queen will be announced. There will be fireworks after the game, and then the Homecoming Dance will start at 10pm and end at 12pm.
Homecoming is important to the school because it has been a tradition for more than 15 years! It gives students the chance to somewhat let loose and express themselves. Homecoming will be taking place starting September 15, through September 19. This event will be taking place in multiple locations. One being the High School, Grade School, and then up at the Pavilion on Main Street in Palestine.
