The Florida Gators is a professional college softball team. They have a total of 27 different players: two catchers, eight pitchers, eight infielders, and seven outfielders. They have won one hundred and seven games over the last two seasons.The Florida Gators head coach is Tim Walton the assistant coaches are Aric Thomas, Francesca Enea, and Stepahnie Vanbrakle. Tim Walton has been their head coach since 2006. Their top nine starters are Jocelyn Erickson, Raegan Walsh, Kendall Grover, Rylee Holtorf, Kenleigh Cahalan, Korbe Otis, Kendra Falby, Taylor Shumaker, and Keagan Rothrock.
The Florida Gators most recent national rankings from June 2025 show them at no. 7 in the USA softball ESPN.com collegiate top 25 poll and at no. 3 in the NCAA Women’s Softball RPI. The team also finished the 2025 season as the national no. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament, a testament to their strong performance throughout the year. In 2014 the Florida Gators won their first ever NCAA national championship sweeping the best of three championship series against Alabama. Led by the head coach Tim Walton the team defeated Alabama 6-3 in the decisive game 2 of the Women’s college world series. In 2015 they also won their second consecutive national championship by defeating the Michigan Wolverines in the championship series. The team finished the season with a 60-7 overall record. When 2016 came they unfortunately did not win the championship.
Their 2025 season was a very successful one culminating in a trip to the Women’s college world series as the no. 3 national seed, the program’s highest seed since 2018. The Gators led by coach Tim Walton and featuring stars like Jocelyn Erickson and Taylor Shumaker won both the Gainesville regional and super regional to advance to Oklahoma city. The 2025 season ended in the WCWS with a loss to No. 6 Texas but with a strong core of returning players and talented newcomers the team was looking forward to continuing its success into the 2026 season.
The Florida Gators had a great 2025 season with a 48-17 overall record including a 14-10 record in conference play after being eliminated in the WCWS by Tennessee. Key statistical highlights include a .423 batting average for Kendra Falby and a strong showing from Taylor Shumaker with 22 home runs. For the 2026 season the Florida Gators biggest competition will come from Southeastern conference rivals like Tennessee and Arkansas along with national powerhouse such as Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech.
