This is a review of the film “Tenet” by Christopher Nolan. I will base my rating based on: setting, plot, cinematography, characters, and overall feel.
I am writing this section before watching the film so I can evaluate what I think the film is going to be about by looking at the cover image; I see two men in suits with silenced pistols in hand. Their backdrop: a city. The foreground: embers. The assumption I’ve come to is that it’s going to be about hit-men in a crumbling dystopian city.
Last night September 18, 2025 around 9:30 PM I watched the film. My assumption was completely incorrect; it had nothing to do with dystopian hit-men. The film followed a more tactical espionage route of story telling where a man is trying to stop the world from ending in the middle of a cold war. “Tenet” has a very convoluted way of story telling that left me confused but interested; leaving me quite satisfied at the end when all the pieces fit together
The most confusing part of the plot for me was this time traveling/reversal/parallel thing that they kept doing; I genuinely still don’t actually understand what was going on with that even after thinking about it. I like weird confusing things, so despite my poor understanding of the plot for most of the movie, I quite enjoyed it.
My rating has been concluded, I’ll give it a 8.5 out of 10.
