Homecoming is one of the two major dances at Palestine high school. The dance is from 7:00 to 10:00, September 19, at the pavilion on main street in Palestine. On the week of September 15 at the high school the students have dress up days and games every day of the week.
The week is mostly a fun week for the students to get prepared and get more excited for the Homecoming dance. The week is filled with competitive games like, dodge-ball, volleyball, blind folded musical chairs, and more. The games are a competition between all the classes. The games are scored in which place you get in each game throughout the week. First place gets 5 points, second place gets 3 points, third place gets 1 point, and fourth place gets nothing. The dress up days are scored the same, but it depends on what percent of your class participated.
On Friday the classes get to compete in a bunch of mini games like potato sack races, water balloon tosses, and tug of war. During this week the classes also get to compete against each other to see who can make the best float that represents the homecoming football game and will go in the homecoming parade.
During this week the kids do still have to do school work but get to miss at least an hour of their usual day to play games. This is one of the most anticipated weeks for the students. This is all in good fun and the classes also get to learn how they need to be sportsmanlike during the games.
