If you walk down the main hallway at PHS, you might notice the paper brackets that line the wall outside the office. The Palestine High School has been holding a March Madness bracket competition for anyone who decides to fill one out. There’s a men’s and women’s bracket, and participants simply fill in the bracket with the teams they think will win each match. Most of the people who fill it out are doing it just for fun while others are filling it out based on the knowledge they have and how certain teams did last year.
The first round game and second round game are usually being played during class so a lot of teachers will either put on the game or allow students to watch the game on their phone or Chromebook.
In the men’s bracket Callum Roeder is in first and Kailyn Shoulders is in second and Mrs. Sisil and Mr. Riley are tied for third. We will have a winner determined on Tuesday April 8th since the championship game is on Monday for the mens bracket.
The girls championship game is being held on Sunday, so we’ll also have a winner for that next week. Wyatt Holmes and Daylen Beckes are tied for first with 113 points in the women bracket and third is Mr. Riley.
The winners of both the men’s and women’s bracket competition will receive Ginger Ale’s gift cards: $15 for first place, $10 for second place, and $5 for third place.
