Yesterday, March 10th, marked the Scholastic Bowl Regionals hosted by, us, Palestine High School. There were a total of three rounds hosted, but not everyone made it to the last and final round that would lead to an extended scholastic season.
In the first round for Pal-Hut, we went against North Clay. Pal-Hut won the match with a striking 400 points to North Clay’s 40. Despite their loss, North Clay was kind after the match and shook hands with the Pal-Hut team happily.
With the win fresh in their minds, Pal-Hut was excited for their more challenging opponent, Newton.
The entire season, Pal-Hut and Newton have gone head to head. At the time of the Regionals, Newton and Pal-Hut were tied 2-2. Pal-Hut was determined to move to the next round.
Unfortunately, determination can only bring a team so far. Though Pal-Hut did well, we lost to Newton 280-250. That’s right, 30 points off. We were so close, but in the end, Newton made their way to the top.
Even though we lost, the matches were fun and the teams were kind, it didn’t matter if they won or lost (though winning would probably make them a little more inclined to be kind).
This marks the end of the Scholastic Bowl season, but it was a season to remember. Good luck to the next Pal-Hut Scholastic Bowl team!
