One Day, a movie, and now a Netflix series, is about a girl named Emma Morley and a guy named Dexter Mayhew, and their friendship over the course of 20 years.

Their first meeting took place in 1988 on the night before their college graduation, where they had just met and they know that after graduation they have to go their separate ways. After only one day of hanging out all day, they cannot stop thinking about one another.  As the years go by, Dex and Em begin to live separate lives very different from the people they once dreamed they’d become. And yet, they are still unable to let go of that special something that grabbed onto them that first night. 

They begin to have an amazing relationship with one another, just as friends though. Over the 20 year span, little snippets of their relationship are shown throughout the movie on the same day every year, July 15th. Dex and Em face many arguments and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, lots of laughter and many tears. And, as the true meaning of this one crucial day is revealed, they must come to grips with the nature of love and life itself.
