The Young Women Lead Conference is a yearly event that is coming up on March 6. This is an event held at Lincoln Trail College for sophomore and junior girls in high school.
Young Women Lead is a conference that teaches young women that they matter and that there are many different things that empower girls. The event was founded in 2009 by Sally Schott.
At this event, girls from various schools get together and break out into small groups depending on what they are interested in. This event is held to prepare girls to “face the challenges to their gender and generation”. At the beginning, there is a different guest speaker each year that talks to everyone and does a small bonding exercise. After this, the first group session breaks out. These are different sessions that are held on various topics according to specific fields.
After the first group is over, girls move onto the next topic they chose. Following the second breakout session is lunch.
Usually, Jersey Mike’s is delivered to everyone. After lunch, there is one more session that everyone attends together. This usually includes the closing and gives everyone an opportunity to say goodbye.
