- Mass Incarceration
Because Lamar was accompanied by all-Black dancers, many people started speculating that they were in a prison yard. This is to show the issue of mass incarceration and the racial disparities of people behind bars. Lamar often raps about the system’s impact on Black Americans even though he has never faced incarceration.
2. The American Flag
The backup dancers on the field with Kendrick were dressed in red, white, and blue. During “Humble”, all of the dancers came together to make the flag more clear.
3. Game Over
Some people believe that the show was a statement about winning the dispute between Drake and Kendrick. After Kendrick won four Grammy’s and then proceeded to perform at the Super Bowl, people assume that the message is that he is the victor against Drake.
