Each week, PHS names a new Jersey Mike’s Athlete of the Week. Each week, a random athlete will be picked for good sportsmanship or any good deed or action on the court or field. This week’s player of the week is sophomore Brody Keesling. Brody was pretty happy with being picked as the player of the week, which also comes with a gift card to Jersey Mike’s as the reward.
Brody’s dad started coaching basketball when Brody was 6 or 7, and Brody was always with his dad in the basketball gym. There was a coach by the name of Mack Thompson who sparked his interest in the sport of basketball. Since then Brody has kept with basketball; Coach Thompson always helped Brody, not just with basketball, but with life as well. There were two other coaches by the names of Micheal Henry and Tyler Russel who were also there to help him with his journey along the way.
Brody sees sports as a way to create good friendships and a competitive spirit. Brody doesn’t know quite yet if he is going to play basketball in college or use it as a possible scholarship. Either way, Brody feels that everyone should at least play a sport once in their life to create friendships and get to know people.
