As time goes on, the end of the school year grows closer and closer. For some, that means they will begin another year of high school, one year closer to graduating. But for this year’s seniors this means their own impending graduation, and entry into the adult world.
The graduation ceremony is a very big event for just about everyone. But with this big event, also comes with big roles to fill. Most done by members of the graduating class, but not all of them.
These are the requirements for all the big needed for the completion of the graduation ceremony.
Valedictorian: This role is held by a member of the senior class with the highest GPA after the seventh semester. Getting this position is huge, having held a high GPA for a long time. A very big achievement for the person who has grabbed this role! This year’s Valedictorian is Devin Lawyer.
Salutatorian: The student within the senior class with the second highest GPA gets this role. Getting the highest GPA is hard, but then again, so is the second highest. This is also after the seventh semester, once again meaning that whoever gets this has held that GPA for a while. This year’s Salutatorian is Holden Sipes.
Historian: The historian is the role that is held by the class president. This person goes over the four years that the class has been together.
Opening Speech: this role is a student picked by the graduating class to make opening remarks.
Closing speech: Also picked by the graduating class to close off the ceremony.
Marshalls: The four top members of the junior class fill this role. The Marshalls for the 2025 graduation are Emily Rachoy, Alyssa Nethery, Makenzie McDaniel, and Christopher Dunlap.
Ushers: The next two juniors after the top four fill these roles. The Ushers for the 2025 graduation are Autumn Taylor and Riley Blank.
Those are the roles at the graduation ceremony that are necessary to it going as smoothly as possible. Graduation is a big date, so it means a lot for it to go smoothly for the graduates.
